everything but the Kitchen Sink

So we took on a home improvement project - although we didn't really mean to. When the disposal broke, it was like, as long as we're replacing this...why don't we just replace the sink too? Logical thought process, right? Here are the events that then took place:
  1. the existing sink weighed like 75 lbs and Matt had to use a car jack to get it out

  2. the stainless steel sink we got to replace it didn't fit in the hole in our granite

  3. the 2nd sink we bought didn't fit in the whole either

  4. the 3rd sink we brought home fit in the hole - yes! but it was bowed and didn't lay flat

  5. the 4th sink we brought home layed flat, but was dirty and chipped (a return maybe?)

  6. the 5th sink - yes FIFTH sink - was the charm! And the most expensive - of course

So now we have a new sink in and it only took about 2 1/2 weeks to complete the project! Everytime we do this kind of thing we swear to hire a handy man for "next time."

GB and Hoyden -
I can certainly relate! It was a lot of work but doesn't it feel GREAT once it's done? It certainly looks GREAT!

You are preaching to the choir sister. Don't you just love how a "little project" turns into a freakin nightmare. Good times. But the sink looks great!

Well it looks good! We don't do home improvements anymore... we hire out, it ends up costing us more in the long run when we try to do it ourselves. It might have taken a while but it looks great and it works!
